We all meet in Crosby Street, New York

The Crosby Street Hotel can be considered an independent unit autonomous from the Big Apple. Described as being London in New York drag, there is definitely something in the air that transcends the Atlantic, uniting that famous New York attitude with contemporary European sensibilities.

As much as New Yorkers love the city they inhabit, they also need their breaks from time to time from the daily grimaces and shoulder barges. Crosby Street provides that in a stress-free and lighthearted atmosphere, a far cry from the often grim mood outside its walls.

Crosby Streets’ façade does not attract too much attention; it is quite simple and fits in seamlessly into the Soho neighborhood. A quiet, cobblestone-street is the only thing that separates it from the rest of New York. But only once through the glass doors and into the Kit Kemp designed interior do you realize that this is something quite unusual.

The bright lobby is filled with original and loud artworks like a museum of contemporary interior design. The quality of randomness just adds to the hassle-free atmosphere, welcoming you into a place where you can let your guard down and stop taking yourself so seriously.

Situated right next to the lobby, the Crosby Bar will soon welcome residents of the city “all day, every day” with a new entrance on 246 Lafayette. Its gigantic windows, dark oak and multi-colored artwork and furniture leads you to think that Crosby Street doesn’t like any labels or limits.

Afternoon Tea can be enjoyed all day long at the bar as well, seemingly the only sign of its English owners, with a cornucopia of teas, scones, and tarts.

If you plan on staying overnight, the 86 rooms have 40 different lively themes. For the New Yorker, or even the tourist, that needs a break, a cab ride down to Crosby Street beats any flight outta NYC.
