Paris Holiday Window Displays
The holiday season is in full swing in Paris. This year, temperatures may be mild, but the holiday spirit seems to be at an all time high as Parisians, malgré everything, are determine to have an excellent season.
We sent our photographer onto the streets of Paris to capture the holiday window displays and general atmosphere in a few of the city’s biggest department stores.
Printemps is by far the shining window on the hill. Entitled Noël Rêves d’Évasion, the store pays homage to Chanel and its creative director Karl Lagerfeld. The display whisk spectators away into the world of Chanel, as you travel to Japan, China, Russia, United States and back to France, illustrated through 60 animated puppets.
Voyagers will find dancing ballerinas in Moscow, a highly technologically advanced city in Tokyo and miniature Lagerfelds as photographer, designer and director in Paris.
A stone throw away is the more recognizable Galeries Lafayette who opted for a rock and roll theme called Noël Rock ‘N Mode. Surprisingly this year, Lafayette’s windows have been overshadowed by the superior presentation of its next door neighbor, but the store still manages to pull off a rock star appearance with an assortment of all-female Kouklita puppets created by Andrew Yang.
