Andel’s Hotel, Lodz

Andel’s Hotel, Lodz

Within Lodz, Poland’s second largest city, sits a stunning redbrick and dark-iron former cotton mill, a throwback to the cities burgeoning industrial boom of the 19th century. And currently, Poland’s thriving economy is resulting in a newfound cultural renaissance.

Symbolizing this modern Poland, a merger between history and progressive prosperity will be the Andel’s Hotel in Lodz, the old mill remodeled and modernized, becoming the largest hotel of its kind in Poland.

Inside and out, this building has been transformed into an extraordinary work of architecture. Keeping the iconic brick façade and wrought iron gate in the front, the firm Jestico + While has preserved the original construction. On the inside, they have decided to preserve some of the original components such as the iron beams, pillars, and steel-brick ceilings.

The real beauty of the Andel’s Hotel though lies in the interplay between the historical and the modern elements, which is what garnered them the recent award at the European Hotel Design Award for Conversion of an Existing Building to Hotel Use. The industrial iron and brick are harmoniously coupled with the contemporary use of glass, color, and light, adding a smoothed sleekness.

This atmospheric hotel will have 278 designer rooms and suites, fitness and health club, a conference room with a beautiful panoramic view, and a breathtaking rooftop pool in a glass enclave. At the core of the amenities of the Andel’s Hotel will be the largest ballroom in Poland, at an expansive 1,300m2, a suitable locale for events to impress.

Amidst Lodz’s artistic and cultural Manufaktura district, the Andel’s Hotel will open in the spring.
