ARS Electronica Center, Linz

The Ars Electronica Center (AEC) opened its doors this past January 2, 2009. The institution focuses on some of the most pressing issues of our time in the fields of life sciences, biotechnology, genetic engineering and neuroscience.

Also known as the “Museum of the Future,” AEC’s aim is to be at the forefront of developing studies and research that are decoding some of life’s mysteries. For example, the institute looks at how science is able to manipulate and create artificial life forms, or how new technology has expanded the exploration of space and time.

These new developments have pushed us to rethink our definition of what constitutes a human being and helped to redefine our worldview, as well as our stance in the universe.

The Center’s new facility “attests to the affinity between art and science, and to our timeless fascination with our own kind.”

The Ars Electronica Center in Linz, Austria, is at the northern side of the Danube opposite the city hall of Linz. It has been built on the right side of the Nibelungenbrücke. See their website for more information:
