The Abu Dhabi Yacht Show

The Abu Dhabi Yacht Show

The collection of sparkling yachts lined up by the racetrack of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix last month could be mistaken for the forthcoming yacht show in February, 2010. The scene could be confused with that of Monaco. But alas, it was neither mirage nor a case of mistaken identity. Rather, it was Abu Dhabi’s next move into becoming the world’s next hot-spot for the exclusive, for it was to showcase the strength of the oncoming Abu Dhabi Yacht Show.

Only in its second year, the Abu Dhabi Yacht Show is already becoming an integral date in the calendar for boating enthusiasts and the industry involved. Taking advantage of the city’s curved coastal geography, pristine beaches and azure waters, not to mention the booming investment and interest, Abu Dhabi is well on its way to replacing the French Riviera.

Interest in this event has highly risen since last year, forcing organizers to move the event to the much larger docking capabilities of the Yas Marina, that sparkling backdrop to the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Already on the guest list are some of the most opulent names of the mega and superyacht industry, such as Holland’s Feadship and Amels BV, Italy’s Fincantier, and the United States’ Westport and Trinity Yachts.

The event isn’t just an opportunity to exhibit yacht-size and make sales; it also allows a very unique opportunity for a select group of people to network. The invited will be rubbing shoulders will be some of the most prominent players in Abu Dhabi society, most notably some Middle Eastern royalty, and of course the leaders of the industry.

The three-day event, from February 25th to 27th 2010, will be host to what promises to be some lavish cocktail parties and gala dinners. Do not be surprised to hear in the near future that yachts will no longer only be synonymous with the Mediterranean coastline, for Abu Dhabi is not merely just making a little splash in the industry of yachting.
