Love Letters

Whatever happened to the art of writing an emotional love letter to someone dear in your life? Now a day with new forms of communication and the instant gratifications of Twitter, Facebook and email, we have forgotten how pleasurable it is to receive a well thought through letter about our deepest intimate feelings.

For those of you over 22 years old, do you remember the first time you received a letter from that special someone? Valentine’s Day could have easily been thought of as all-poets day, when we sat down with a pen and card to reflect some profound thoughts about our love ones, friends, family and lovers.

Every year, we set aside a time to construct something meaningful, something that clarified an internal feeling of appreciation and romance. The exuberant joy of receiving such letters was priceless. We preserved them like a hidden treasure, under our mattress, in a shoe box or in the most elusive corners of the closet, where only you could have access to such private thoughts.

In the advent of modern technology, we have lost our fervor for hand written letters. Yet, think of how much more special it would be now to send a neatly structured note to your love one, detailing your passion and enthusiasm for their existence and your relationship. How unexpected, how charming and bewitching this simple but significant act can be.

Next time you think of that special person, put your thought down on a sheet of paper and wrap it up nicely in a sharp envelope. It could be the most genuine and loving act you do for someone.
