Ambrogino D’oro Award for Design Duo

Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana have been bestowed the honour of the Ambrogino D’oro award for their contribution to the city of Milan. The design-duo, who drives the powerhouse that is Dolce & Gabbana, are being honoured due to their significant impact on Milan, the city where Italian chic was born.

The Ambrogino D’oro is the most prestigious award bestowed by the city of Milan, given to citizens for their humanitarian and social contribution. The 7th December this year marked the award’s 45th anniversary and the annual day in celebration of Saint Ambrogio, Milan’s patron.

On hearing the news of the award Stefano responding saying, “We are extremely honoured and excited to receive this award. Milan is not only our city and where our home is, but also the place that allowed us to make our dream come true. Milan has given us a lot and we cannot be but happy that our work contributed to its well-being.”

Stefano has also recently joined Twitter and is racking up followers. He posted “me and Domenico are so proud and honoured for the Ambrogino the Milan’s award to the most influent Milan’s citizens, thank u. Milano we love u.” This is the first time that a designer has been honoured by receiving this award in Italy’s capital of fashion.
