To cuddle in a Troll Chair
To cuddle in a Troll Chair
Where are you seated right now? Sunk into a comfortable couch? Or maybe lying in bed? Or maybe even in the same old office chair you can’t wait to replace? I’ll be perfectly honest, I’m sitting on a barstool in my kitchen, hunched over the kitchen bar, giving my back a small respite from the flimsy chair by my desk.
I’ll tell you where I’d like to be sitting though, on this ungodly day of minus ten degrees, and that’s in the Troll Chair by Danish designers Lund & Paarmann.
Reminding me of some of the cuddliest and heartwarming creatures of childhood, the Troll Chair is made of three basic elements. First, a sturdy oak foundation, then a full grain saddle leather in the shape of a satellite-dish, and finally topped off with the fluffiest of Icelandic sheepskin and wool.
It is a throwback to the days when trolls were cute dolls with awesomely playful hair (and not evil characters in Harry Potter novels), when Bastian flies with the shaggy Falkor in the Neverending Story, when Max becomes the King of the Wild Things.
Intended for both children and adults, the Troll Chair will definitely become the living room center-piece that will be fought over every cold wintry day. It is made for comfort but also for sharing, for taking the time out to snug and read a book, for having your child on your lap, and for generally getting cozy when you need it the most.
That’s where I’ll park myself at the end of the day.
