Binta Armchair by Bestenheider

Binta Armchair by Bestenheider

Swiss designer Philippe Bestenheider drew inspiration from West Africa to create this armchair, part of the Moroso collection at Milan’s Salone Internazionale del Mobile.

Influenced in form by African woodcarvings, Binta’s footing reflects the graceful split trunks of the baobab tree. The chair is upholstered with Senegalese Wax fabric, some of its patterns plant-like, others geometric, or playfully dotted in pineapples or fleur de lys. Bestenheider’s fabric pairings change the mood of each chair, from somber earthy tones to mod 60s whimsy.

Binta would be a welcome guest in many a room, bringing with it an easy shape and the vibrant colors of West Africa.
