Stumptown Coffee Hits New York

Stumptown Coffee Hits New York

Java enthusiasts everywhere have reason to rejoice with the recent opening of Stumptown Coffee Roasters in the lobby of the Ace Hotel in Midtown Manhattan. Like the hotel itself, Stumptown is a Portland transplant determined to bring their brand of west-coast coffee expertise to New York.

For a coffee shop, Stumptown Café has a distinctly New York vibe minus the mediocre brew in those ubiquitous blue cups. Their polished coffee bar has no seating available but you can always take a seat in the library of the hotel lobby.

Stumptown sources all of the coffee themselves and roasts the beans on site in Red Hook, Brooklyn. Perhaps best of all, your macchiato is brewed by some of the sharpest dressed baristas in town - sporting suspenders, ties, and the occasional fedora.

Thanks to Stumptown Café and the recent opening of Ken Friedman’s Breslin Bar and Dining Room across the lobby, the Ace Hotel is quickly becoming the next culinary destination in New York.
