Korean Pop Music Worldwide
Korean pop music is finally taking off around the world, with groups like Wonder Girls propelling forward this new genre of international pop icons. Thanks to online portals like Youtube, Twitter and its availability on iTunes, Kpop has become more accessible to a wider audience on the internet expanding the popularity of the music.
For those of you who still have not cached-up to the phenomenon , Kpop consist of electropop, hip hop, rock and R&B. It’s origin is in Seoul, South Korea, but the music’s online fans are mainly outside of the country in places like the U.S. China and Japan.
At Gloobbi, one of our favorite Kpop band is 2Ne1, a group consisting of four girls formed by YG Entertainment. Check out their single “I am the best” on Youtube to watch these stylish chicks in action. Their fashion sense is admirable.
Another favorite is Wonder Girls, pictured above. Their single “Nobody” went global in 2009. It had fans around the world copying the girls’ sultry dance moves. Just recently we took a trip over to Krakow, Poland where the song was still blasting throughout the clubs.
Keep an eye out for Kpop as the genre continues to expand globally.
