Rondolino Residence, Nevada

When most people think of Nevada they think of Las Vegas, with its blinding neon lights, casinos and impromptu weddings, but in reality much of Nevada is largely deserted. The state lies primarily within the Great Basin and the Mojave Desert. Semiarid, barren and lacking infrastructure, Nevada is a difficult place to navigate, let alone live.

In these rough terrenes, not far from Death Valley, is where architects Peter Strzebniok and Kelly Ishida Sloan from Nottoscale architects developed the Rondolino Residence shown above. Created for Italian writer Fabrizio Rondolino, the place literally had to be put together from scratch beginning with a water system and bringing electricity to the area.

The architects planned a T-Modulome home, which are made with an energy efficient wood panel system based on a two foot grid. Strzebniok and Sloan explain that the T-Modulome is a combination of two units providing a spacious three bedrooms, a study and two bathrooms layout with a large living/kitchen combination area that extends into a big deck protected by a trellis.

Nottoscale focuses on prefabricated homes based on modulame to build modern single family homes. The firm utilizes prefabricated materials, methods and components to significantly narrow down a budget and a project deadline. To learn more of the company’s Prefab models see its WEBSITE where they detail the difference of a “T,” “H” ad “S” modulame.

The Rondolino Residence is the firm’s first major client. The construction area is particularly appealing because of its continuous uninterrupted landscape, which allows for beautiful views across the surrounding land. Figuratively, It is the perfect blank page for a writer to begin an inspirational piece.
