January Opening for the Burj Dubai
Although originally meant to be open in December 2009, the world’s tallest building will soon be making its public debut on 4 January 2010. The tower, designed by Emaar Properties, aims to symbolise the world’s most dramatic dreams and aspirations, standing as a dazzling example of wealth, energy and success – words associated more and more frequently with Dubai and the visions of the new Middle East.
Interestingly, the flowers of the Hymenocallis plant that grows in Dubai and India, provided the building’s architect, Adrian Smith, with the idea for the tower’s structure and layout due to its harmonious arrangement, giving the construction a rather esoteric flavour. The lavish amenities on offer inside the tower, which include an observation platform able to hold twenty-one people on each deck, and a library, and the meticulous attention paid to detail during the building process, bathes the vision for the design, and the reality, in a sleek charm that will quickly seduce visitors early next year.
The residential suites and office space utilise natural light in the fullest sense possible, beaming through large windows that open onto stunning views of the city. Residents can also take advantage of the exclusive lounge, fitness suite and four swimming pools within the structure. Further to this, the building is reported as not only the tallest but as having the fastest elevators in the world, capable of providing a programmed emergency procedure to maximise security. Records are being smashed with this groundbreaking design that is likely to attract even more tourists to the city in 2010.
